The other day, I wrote what I thought was a damned good scribble using WordPress on my iPad. When I went to do my categories and tags, hmm, where are they? This thing ain’t acting as expected but, okay, I gotta write this before it evaporates from my conscious thoughts.
So I’m pecking away on the virtual keyboard and it’s not making me happy – it never does – because it can’t keep up with how fast I can type and that damned autocorrect function is making shit harder than it has to be and, by the way, turning it off just makes it worse. The thoughts are flowing from my brain to my fingers and I get my head emptied about what I wanted to write about… but I still have those housekeeping things to do… and I can’t do them.
Shit. Fuck.
So I save the draft and go to my computer to bring up WordPress and do what I gotta do – and something I’ve done a few times… except, the saved draft isn’t showing up – it’s like I never wrote it and I’m thinking something is very wrong. I go get my iPad, open the app, look in drafts and, yep, there it is, just sitting there waiting to be published but it’s not reflected in the WordPress that’s open in my browser.
What the fuck is going on? Now, I gotta reach out to the support people; I don’t know if what I’m seeing is an app error or, perhaps, something screwy going on with my iPad but I really need to find out why the post I wrote is “saved” on my iPad but my web thingy doesn’t know about it.
And I just hate this shit. It seriously fucks up the way I tend to scribble because the things that are on my mind at the time I’m ready to write them might not hang around for too long and, yeah, I do expect the fucking app to behave as it’s been behaving – and like it’s supposed to.
I’m going to get my iPad and look to make sure the draft is still there… and I won’t be surprised if it’s vanished from there as well… and I will be even more pissed than I am right now.
Stay tuned.

I find it sometimes takes a while for the phone app to update to the computer app. Sometimes it’s pretty quick, but other times it takes a while. If you’re lucky it will catch up and you won’t lose it.

Up to this point I’ve never had a problem using the app. The scribble I wrote is still on my iPad but with a message that the update failed… and I don’t know why. So let’s publish it and see what happens; I touch Publish… and it says “Updating Post…” and it’s still sitting there.
Is it a WordPress problem or something wrong on my end? I don’t know… but I gotta find out before the app makes that rather nice blog post vanish into thin air…

I’ve lost long comments this way and it’s so frustrating. I hope you don’t lose your post. You write long ones and I wouldn’t want to have to redo it.

I save my stuff on DropBox and then back up to my home NAS drive periodically to keep from losing shit. I feel for you as the latest Windows 10 update borked my three desktop computers and I spent most of the weekend screwing with them. Finally discovered that the update somehow breaks the Logitech wireless keyboards and rodents. Got a wired set until this gets straightened out.

Yeah, that last Windows 10 update did some screwy shit to my computer as well and I’ve been working on squaring shit away, easy for me since I know how Windows works. But this iOs thing? It’s got me baffled and more so since until now, it’s never given me a problem; I’ve lost more posts accessing WordPress on my computer.

Now, I have a Logitech wireless keyboard and I haven’t seen any issues with connectivity between it and the computer – I wonder what’s up with that?

I had the same issue with my 4 desktops, the laptops were fine, on boot the computer goes directly to a black screen with the hard disk light on solid for hours. Finally, after overnight, the Windows background was displayed but it would not respond to the keyboard or mouse. Running the Logitech diagnostic tool would show the keyboard but not the mouse. Once I determined that it was an input issue, I dug up an old wired keyboard and mouse then voila it started working. I was confused at first because there was no outward sign beyond the fact the mouse and keyboard didn’twork. According to Microsoft this only happened to a few people well it happened to all of my desktops, the laptops updated fine. WTF?

Yep – sometimes a Windows update will just hose a machine… or a bunch of them. That last update didn’t affect my wife’s computer like it did mine – and we have identical machines.
It’s a start up problem; The computer, when it boots and loads Windows is supposed to do certain things in a certain order and at a specific time… and sometimes it can’t do it and you wind up with a black screen while the loading process tries to get its shit together or you wind up with Windows loading slowly and everything is sluggish.
Sometimes a series of reboots will eventually solve the issue – and provided Microsoft hasn’t issued another update that’ll fix what got screwed up in the last one.
And you can always uninstall it… but Windows will reinstall it unless you can catch it and tell it not install it – good luck with that one because you gotta go to sleep at some point and most updates happen at zero dark thirty when you’re asleep and the computer isn’t doing anything if it’s still powered up.

What’s really funny with the app is that everything else I do on there is working just fine – it’s just not updating my blog with the post I wrote.

I don’t use a iPad but have a MacBook Air and use DropBox with it to share files. Good luck, hope you figure it out.

I retyped the whole thing and saved the draft on my iPad, which I’ll delete – and hope the one I retyped and posted doesn’t disappear. I’ve contacted support about it and I’m waiting to hear back from them.

Ok just asking. My hubby went out and purchased a new garbage disposal and was about to put it in when I asked him did he check the reset button… needless to say it was the reset button. He took the new one back to Lowe’s

I’m used to computing devices not working right and spent a career fixing them; the process is deeply ingrained in me that even being retired, I know what to do even if, sometimes, I don’t have the tools to fix it myself.

This happens to me all the time. Does it say “local” on the draft on the iPad? If so, that means it didn’t upload and you have to do it again. Go into post settings and schedule it and it usually fixes it.

Nope – just said that the update failed; i couldn’t even get it to save as a draft – it was just sitting there and still is.

I’ve had to do that a couple of times… on my computer. I realize that it wouldn’t have worked on my iPad because the app itself was somehow corrupted; I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and now it’s working perfectly.
